How does Invisalign work?
When you decide to start your journey towards a better smile with Invisalign, the first thing your dentist at Presidential Dental Group does is to take an impression of your current bite and smile. While many dental practices do this with an uncomfortable dental mold, Presidential Dental Group uses the iTero® intraoral scanner — a tiny camera used to take a series of pictures of the inside of your mouth.
These pictures are then fed into software creating a virtual model of your teeth. Your dentist manipulates this virtual model to create your target alignment, maps out a series of “steps” in between your current alignment and your dream smile, and sends the information to a lab.
The lab then fabricates a series of clear plastic aligners modeled after each of these “steps” in the journey towards your target alignment. The aligners fit comfortably over your teeth and exert a small amount of pressure, gently moving them into your target alignment.
You wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day, taking them out only to brush, floss, or eat. After two weeks, you move on to the next aligner in your series as your teeth progress closer to their target alignment. Some patients can reach their target alignment in as little as nine months!
